Hello, and welcome to ShowUsTech.com! I’m Jeremy Fischbach, founder of ShowUsTech.com. This website is an the product of an idea I’ve been sitting on since December of 2006. I was working as a consultant for technology companies that needed a boost in sales. In a nutshell, my job was to represent my clients in the retail channel. This involved a little bit of everything, product and sales trainings for retail associates, demonstrating my product line to customers, negotiating extra space for displays, etc…. Basically anything to drive sales for my clients.
During the Christmas rush, I would visit multiple retailers and talk to potential customers about my products. That year, I was focused on driving sales for a popular maker of MP3 players. For customers who knew what an MP3 player was, my job was simple. I had the best quality product, with the most features, for the lowest price. The challenge was winning over the 70% of the market who had never heard of an MP3 player. After these customers learned about how convenient and affordable MP3 players where, they where instantly sold. The biggest obstacle was trying to teach them how to use this new device. Most of these customers knew absolutely nothing about technology, and had no idea how to convert their cd’s into MP3’s and then sync….. you get the picture.
Explaining how to operate one of these devices in a busy store was nearly impossible. I constantly had a line of customers waiting to hear about these devices. An hour spent teaching a customer how to use an MP3 player, means hundreds of dollars lost in sales from customers who are already familiar. On the other hand, turning down a customer who need a little extra help is unethical and bad for business. Rock and a hard place.
I came up with an idea that would solve everything. Spend an hour preparing a printed “How to use your new MP3 Player” tutorial, and distribute these to customers that needed it. This proved instantly successful. Not only could I help customers while I was in the store, I could now leave these printed tutorials with sales associates to distribute. The idea for ShowUsTech.com was born.
The idea still remains the same, only on a much larger level. Instead of reaching a few hundred people in a few stores covering a few products, we now reach millions of people, covering hundreds of products, all around the world.
